I am studying early US history and working towards a dissertation on Baltimore's merchants and their role in the Atlantic economy. I have used computers since the second grade, but have not taken the initiative to learn programming or much hacking (yet). I love the idea that we can bring our scholarly pursuits to bear in new and interesting ways that go beyond the word, paragraph, or chapter. At this moment, my spouse is racing me to fill out this registration page (I think I'm winning).
